NOVEMBER ISAC
1. ok2say presentation by Scott Beckman, director of security at RPS. With a fall 2015 kick off, ok2say at Rockford has become a model for the state of MI. Starting in 5th grade students should learn age appropriate content to understand program. Top three calls are suicidal threats and self harm, drugs and vaping, and finally bullying and cyber bullying.
2. Curriculum report- planning is starting for next year and curriculum coaches are working with teachers now to increase instructional effectiveness.
3. finance report- see RPS website for a link to a draft timeline for the ten year plan.
4. Human Resources- looking to hire a new director of transportation, as Jackie Fase retires. Also looking to hire more permanent subs as there is a sub shortage. Adding accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to post jobs. Also banning use of essential oils in classrooms as it may affect students differently.
5. ISAC member issues- Band placed 19th in country at competition. REF grants went to wood turning club at high school and life skills club at Valley View for examples. January 20th starts the new grant cycle. Please consider utilizing a grant at your school or donating to their cause.
