REF Presentation
Amy Vaneil came in and gave a short presentation on the Rockford Education Foundation.
It was founded in 1991 and is a 501c3. They operate separately from the school system. They were initially formed to fund teacher grants but have since began contributing to operation costs as well. The board consists of 15 people currently. Wolverine Worldwide gives the $25k each year to fund grants. They have funded the MakerSpace rooms at all schools. Their biggest fundraiser is The Taste which is at Blythefield Country Club and takes place on March 7th. They are also selling bricks at the high school .
Last year they had $90k in grant requests and they funded $65k.
Principals Report
Christmas take home gifts was a great success as was the caroling that the students did at the assisted living facilities.
The Conquer assembly was a hit with the students.
PBIS Den Challenge – All classes met their goals
Gratitude book focus was done with books that were donated by REF.
A parent volunteer is needed for the PBIS committee, 1x per moth to discuss topics related to school emotional issues.
NWEA assessments started this week and will go on through 01.31.
Kindergarten registration is online. Kids who are in DK don’t need to register.
Reminder for parents to dress their kids for the weather.
Christmas Parties – Parking was much better as we brought in assistance. We can do the same for the carnival.
Valentine’s Day Parties will be on 02.14, which is a half day.
Watch DOGS – Send all males in!
President’s Report
Biggby fundraiser was super easy and generated $1785! Ideas discussed included 9 Square in the Air which is $800. Mr Banta has requested funding for basketball supplies.
Suggestions for next time – look at the time of year that we hold the fundraiser, tell the kids what the reward will be ahead of time to increase engagement.
Treasures Report
Quarterly and yearly tax reports are done and in ahead of time.
Requests for $100 by Lindsay Behl was approved for Christmas craft.
Payment/Money received for the following:
Shoparoo –
Amazon Smile - $15
Cookbooks - $30
Box Tops - $316
Biggby - $1785
Will be calling the court house to determine the amount of restitution remaining.
Outgoing expenses:
3 teacher funding requests
Battle of the Books fee
Reimbursements for bussing, cub crawl, Christmas crafts
The Score night check is still pending. Rachel Dev will follow up.
The next Score night is scheduled for March 31st.
Account balance is $46k.
Additional ideas to fund:
Picnic tables for outside as well as benches (Jill Gumbs will write grant).
